In a commanding display at Outdoor Athletics Complex, the Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team overwhelmed SUNY Adirondack with a decisive 6-0 victory, showcasing efficiency in attack, controlled possession, and defensive solidity.
Hudson Valley set the tone early with a first-half strike: Corbet Hallberg rose above the defense to head in a precise service from Eli Charlebois at the 44th minute, giving the Vikings a one-goal lead heading into halftime. The second half unfolded as a masterclass in scoring execution. Joseph Davis extended the lead to 2–0 in the 54th minute, neatly finishing a pass from Anthony Pezzulo. Shortly thereafter, Eli Charlebois made it 3-0 in the 59th minute, thanks to a slick assist from Erik Najtellari. The rout continued when Xavier Tubon netted a spectacular unassisted goal in the 73rd minute, pushing the advantage to 4-0. Davis completed his standout performance by capitalizing on an unmarked opportunity for the fifth goal at 81:05, then sealed his hat trick with a final strike assisted by Jared Lorenzo in the 89th minute.
From a statistical standpoint, the Vikings' dominance is clear. The Vikings outshot Adirondack 30-3—thriving with 13 attempts in the first half and 17 in the second—and held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks. Defensively, they were airtight; goalkeeper Juan Rivas preserved a clean sheet with two crucial saves over the full 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Adirondack's goalkeeper faced relentless pressure, conceding all six goals from 12 shots faced.
With this emphatic victory, Hudson Valley picked up its first win of the season and gained valuable momentum heading into the heart of NJCAA Region III play. The Vikings will look to build on the offensive spark and defensive stability shown against Adirondack as they aim to climb the standings in the weeks ahead.
