The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team put together a commanding weekend performance, securing consecutive wins over the SUNY Niagara Club team and Erie Community College to continue building early-season momentum.
On Saturday, the Vikings earned a 3-1 victory over Niagara behind a brace from sophomore forward Camryn Curet and a steady showing in goal from Arafh Ghani. Curet opened the scoring midway through the first half with a header off a service from Erik Najtellari before Najtellari converted a penalty kick to double the advantage. Niagara cut the deficit in the 82nd minute, but Curet struck again in the closing minutes to seal the win. Ghani recorded four saves in net to preserve the result.
Hudson Valley carried that momentum into Sunday's road match at Erie, where the Vikings rolled to an 8-0 shutout. Cameron Graham put the visitors on the board early before Vincent Scavullo, Curet, and Joseph Davis extended the lead to 4-0 at halftime. Davis completed his hat trick with a pair of second-half goals, while Logan Healy and David Botsford rounded out the scoring. The Vikings outshot Erie 21-0, and goalkeeper Juan Rivas, along with a disciplined back line, secured the clean sheet.
With the two victories, Hudson Valley outscored its opponents 11-1 over the weekend, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive organization. The Vikings return to action later this week as they kick off Homecoming Weekend on Friday against Tompkins Cortland at 4:15pm.
