The Vikings capped off a remarkable season with a 26-2 record and a berth in the national tournament, showcasing resilience, skill and program-defining performances.
In the first game of the consolation bracket, the Vikings faced Monroe-Bronx and secured a straight-sets victory with scores of 25-20, 27-25 and 25-17. The team jumped out fast and held steady even when challenged, tightening up in the second set to pull ahead. Their balanced attack and strong defensive presence set the tone for the tournament.
Next, in the match against Caldwell Tech, the Vikings fought hard but fell 3-1 with set scores of 23-25, 17-25, 27-25 and 23-27. After dropping the first two sets, the team responded by capturing the third set in dramatic fashion, showing great character and determination. Though they were unable to convert in the fourth set, their competitiveness and poise under pressure were evident throughout.
While the result fell short of the ultimate goal, the Vikings leave the year with significant achievements. They not only posted a 26-2 mark—one of the best in program history—but they also made history by earning a spot at nationals and then backing it up with a dominant opening win and a spirited semifinal showing. The foundation is firmly in place for next season; this group has changed the culture and expectations of the program.
