The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team capped off a historic regular season on Saturday, October 18, completing a clean sweep at the Adirondack pod to finish undefeated at 21-0. The Vikings defeated both SUNY Adirondack and SUNY Broome in straight sets, securing the top seed in the conference while holding steady at No. 8 in the NJCAA national rankings.
Hudson Valley opened the day with a 3-0 victory over SUNY Adirondack by scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-20. The Vikings delivered a balanced offensive performance, led by Madison LaCouture with 8 kills on 17 swings (.471), followed by Brooke Poutre with 7 kills on 23 attempts and Hayden LeFever with 5 kills on 10 swings (.500). As a team, Hudson Valley totaled 33 kills on 87 attempts (.253) and controlled momentum throughout the match with 32 service aces.
In the second match, Hudson Valley completed the sweep with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 win over SUNY Broome. LaCouture once again paced the offense with 10 kills on 17 attempts for 17.5 total points. LeFever added 6 kills, and setter/libero hybrid Gabriella Kholstinin recorded 9 digs while contributing 2 kills. The Vikings finished with 27 kills on 76 attacks and matched their earlier serving output with 27 aces.
With the regular season officially closed, Hudson Valley enters postseason play as one of the few undefeated programs in the nation. The Vikings now turn their focus to tournament competition, they head to the regional tournament to compete on November 1st and 2nd.
