The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team continued its dominant run through the 2025 season with two home victories on Sunday, defeating Corning 3-0 and Onondaga 3-1 to improve to a perfect 16-0.
The Vikings opened the day with a straight-set sweep of Corning, earning set wins of 27-25, 25-19 and 26-24. Despite close finishes in the first and third frames, Hudson Valley maintained control throughout the match and executed efficiently in late-set situations to seal the win. Jocelyn Caputo paced the offense with six kills on a .444 hitting percentage, while Hayden LeFever added seven kills and five digs. The Vikings collected 58 digs as a team to limit Corning's scoring opportunities.
In the second match of the day, Hudson Valley battled past a scrappy Onondaga squad for a 3-1 victory by scores of 25-17, 12-25, 25-16 and 26-24. After dropping the second set, the Vikings responded with a dominant third frame and closed out the match in a tense fourth-set finish. Brooke Poutre led the attack with 11 kills on 29 swings, while LeFever (8 kills) and Lillian Fros (7 kills) provided consistent offensive support. Defensively, Hudson Valley recorded 66 digs to weather Onondaga's pressure.
With the pair of wins, Hudson Valley remains unbeaten at 16-0. The Vikings now hit the road for a midweek matchup at SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as they look to extend their historic start to the season.
