The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team earned a pair of impressive victories on Saturday, defeating Erie Community College and SUNY Niagara in Region III play. The Vikings opened the day with a 3-1 triumph over Erie, rallying after a 20-25 setback in the opening frame to claim the next three sets by scores of 25-11, 25-22, and 25-19. Sophomore outside hitter Jocelyn Caputo led the offensive attack with 11 kills and nine digs, while sophomore middle hitter Lillian Fros contributed 10 kills and provided a steady presence at the net as Hudson Valley secured the comeback victory.
In the second match of the afternoon, Hudson Valley swept SUNY Niagara in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-8, behind a dominant two-way effort from sophomore outside hitter Hayden LeFever. LeFever registered eight kills on a .350 hitting percentage, collected 20 serve receptions, and added two blocks to pace the Vikings. Additional contributions came from Fros, Abigail McCagg, and Brooke Poutre, as the Vikings controlled play throughout and limited Niagara to just eight points in the final set.
With the two wins, Hudson Valley demonstrated both resilience and consistency, improving their standing in Region III competition and continuing to build momentum in the 2025 season.
