The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team remained unbeaten on Saturday, improving to 6–0 on the season with a pair of sweeps over No. 8 Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College. The victory over Finger Lakes marked the Vikings' first win against the nationally ranked program since 2010.
The Vikings set the tone early with a 3–0 victory over Finger Lakes, taking the sets 25–21, 25–22, and 25–19. Madison LaCouture powered the offense with 12.5 points on seven kills and four service aces. Hayden LeFever added 11 points while hitting .273, and Jocelyn Caputo chipped in 6.5 points and three blocks at the net. Hudson Valley finished the match with 27 kills and seven aces while holding Finger Lakes to just 16 kills across three sets.
In the second match of the day, Hudson Valley continued its strong play in a 3–0 win over Monroe, earning set scores of 25–20, 25–17, and 25–13. Lillian Fros led the way with 11 points on a .600 attack percentage, while LeFever tallied 10 points and a match-high five service aces. LaCouture added another 8.5 points, including three aces, as the Vikings controlled the match from start to finish. The team totaled 29 kills, 10 aces, and five blocks in the victory.
With the two sweeps, Hudson Valley brings their record to 6-0 and records its first win over Finger Lakes in 15 years. The Vikings look to build on their early momentum next weekend as they head West for a double header against Erie and Niagara on Saturday, 9/13.
