The Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team is officially heading to the 2025 NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Championship Tournament as the #7 seed, following Tuesday night's NJCAA Selection Show. The undefeated Region 3A and Mountain Valley Conference Champions will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to take on #10 Dallas-Brookhaven in the opening round on Thursday, November 13 at 11 a.m. CT at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena.
This marks a historic milestone for the Vikings, who captured the program's first-ever NJCAA Region 3A Championship on Sunday, November 2, defeating SUNY Erie in straight sets to secure an automatic bid to nationals. Hudson Valley enters the tournament with a perfect 25-0 record and is currently ranked 9th in the NJCAA National Poll.
Under fourth-year head coach Therese DeCan, the Vikings have become one of the region's top programs, making three consecutive Region 3 Tournament appearances before breaking through this season to earn their first regional title and national tournament berth. DeCan has compiled a 60-37 career record at Hudson Valley.
The Vikings are led by standout setter Gabriella Kholstinin, who became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career assists this season. Kholstinin broke her own single-season assists record, was named Conference Co-Player of the Year, and earned Region 3 All-Tournament Team honors. Jocelyn Caputo was named the Region 3 Tournament Most Valuable Player after her dominant performance in the championship run.
Hudson Valley's appearance in the 2025 NJCAA National Championship marks the first in school history and caps off an already record-setting season for the Vikings.
The Vikings will begin their quest for a national title on Thursday, November 13 at 11 a.m. CT against Dallas-Brookhaven. All matches will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network.
