The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team battled back from an early deficit to earn a 3-2 road win over the Community College of Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon. With the result, the Vikings improve to 5-1-1 on the season.
CCRI jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the Vikings responded quickly to swing the momentum. Sophomore Alessia Salierno put Hudson Valley on the board in the 23rd minute with an unassisted goal, cutting the deficit to one heading into halftime.
The Vikings continued to press in the second half, and Grace Hogan found the equalizer in the 49th minute to level the score at 2-2. The decisive moment came in the closing minutes, when Salierno netted her second goal of the day in the 83rd minute off an assist from Natalie Hastie, lifting Hudson Valley to a comeback victory.
Defensively, Olivia Kay anchored the back line with five saves as the Vikings regrouped after the early setbacks and held CCRI scoreless for the final 50 minutes of play.
The Vikings return home on October 1st as they face North Country at 4:15pm.
