Women's Bowling Wins RIT Tiger Cup; Doty Top Individual
The Hudson Valley Community College women's bowling team delivered a dominant performance at the Tiger Cup in Canandaigua, finishing 1st overall and outpacing the entire field from start to finish.
Team Performance
HVCC controlled the event with remarkable consistency across all four team games, posting scores of 753, 880, 761, and 864 for a 3258 team total—the highest in the tournament by more than 100 pins.
The Vikings were particularly strong in Game 2 (880) and closed emphatically with an 864 in Game 4. Their reliable scoring gave them a sizable cushion heading into Baker play.
During the Baker block, HVCC added 1276 pins, the highest Baker total in the field and the only team to surpass the 1200 mark. Strong games of 168, 159, 167, 168, and 175 highlighted a consistent lineup that never dipped below 137.
With both blocks combined, the Vikings finished with an event-leading 4534 total pins, securing the Tiger Cup title.
Individual Highlights
Two Vikings placed inside the top five of the tournament with Jennifer Doty leading the way, winning the individual portion of the meet. Doty knocked down nine more pins than Ursuline College's Giovanna Radilovic. Alyssa Gray placed fourth overall with 647 pins (averaged 161.75).
Lillie Garneau placed 11th overall and Taylor Masterson finished 13th overall. Rounding out the team scoring was Alexis Gaudette and Laney Brown, who finished 17th and 18th,, respectively.
Tournament Outlook
Hudson Valley topped second-place Ursuline College by more than 800 pins, demonstrating impressive depth, lane play, and stability across all lineup positions. Their ability to rebound from lower frames and string together Baker momentum separated them from the field.
Summary
HVCC showed why they remain one of the most competitive women's programs in the region. Between a commanding team-game performance and the top Baker set of the day, the Vikings walked away as Tiger Cup Champions with a performance that sets a strong tone for the rest of the season.
