Women's Basketball Season Ends in Quarterfinal Loss to #1 Onondaga

The #8 seed Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team closed out its 2025-26 season on Friday with an 81-51 loss to #1 Onondaga Community College in the NJCAA Region III Quarterfinals, hosted by Jefferson Community College.
The Vikings (10-12) struggled early against Onondaga's pressure, falling behind 24-10 after the first quarter and trailing 38-20 at the half. The Lazers extended their lead with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Hudson Valley 23-7, before the Vikings responded with a strong 24-point effort in the final frame.
Gracemary Baumann led Hudson Valley with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Alessia Salierno added 10 points and four rebounds. Lila Christensen contributed eight points and eight boards, and Sanaiya Adams added six points, six assists, and two steals. Off the bench, Piper O'Hare was efficient with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting.
Despite forcing 27 turnovers and swiping 14 steals, the Vikings struggled to convert offensively, shooting 27.6% from the field and just 9.1% from three-point range. Onondaga (24-3) dominated the glass with a 61-34 rebounding edge and was led by Jada Crocker, Aunnie Stier, and Morgan Vasquez, each with 15 points.
The quarterfinal appearance marked the end of a competitive season for Hudson Valley, who battled through a tough Region III schedule and earned a well-deserved playoff berth.
