The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team continued its impressive start to the 2025–26 season, earning a 72–53 road victory over Finger Lakes Community College on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings improve to 7–1 overall and 1–1 in Region 3 play.
Hudson Valley set the tone early and never looked back, outscoring the Lakers in each of the first three quarters to build a comfortable lead that held through the final buzzer.
Sophomore standout Myanna Faraj once again led the offense, finishing with 19 points, six assists, and two steals while logging a team-high 35 minutes.
Forward Gracemary Baumann delivered a dominant performance in the paint with 15 points and 10 rebounds, securing her second straight double-double. Sophomore guard Samantha Graham continued her strong start to the season, adding 15 points, nine rebounds, and a block off the bench.
Hudson Valley's frontcourt was a major factor, as Piper O'Hare (10 rebounds) and Baumann (10) helped the Vikings own a 47–29 rebounding advantage. Freshman guard Alessia Salierno chipped in 8 points and two steals, while Lila Christensen added 9 points and steady defensive pressure.
The Vikings' defensive intensity shined throughout the afternoon, forcing 17 Finger Lakes turnovers and holding the Lakers to just 36% shooting from the field.
Hudson Valley now heads into its winter break before returning to action in the new year. The Vikings are back on the court on Tuesday, January 14, when they host North Country Community College at 5 p.m. inside the McDonough Sports Complex.
