The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance throughout the NECC Turkey Classic this weekend, securing two decisive victories over Northern Essex and Roxbury to continue their strong start to the season.
The Vikings opened the tournament with a 72–32 victory over host Northern Essex Community College on Friday. Sophomore standout Myanna Faraj fueled the offensive attack, pouring in 23 points while confidently leading the tempo on both ends of the floor. Freshman Alessia Salierno followed with a breakout performance, tallying 14 points as she continued to establish herself as a reliable scoring option.
Hudson Valley's interior presence was dominant as well, with sophomores Piper O'Hare and Gracemary Baumann each finishing with 12 points, helping the Vikings control the paint and limit Northern Essex's second-chance opportunities.
On Saturday, the Vikings kept the momentum rolling with a 72–20 win over Roxbury Community College, again using smothering defense and fast-break execution to take control early. Faraj shined once more, leading all scorers with 28 points, showcasing her ability to score at all three levels.
Sophomore Samantha Graham made an immediate impact in her first games of the season, contributing 11 points in her debut weekend. Baumann continued her strong tournament presence with 10 points to round out the Vikings' balanced attack.
The dominant 2–0 weekend further showcased Hudson Valley's depth, chemistry, and championship-level defensive intensity as the team builds momentum going into their next game at Finger Lakes on Sunday, December 7th at 2pm.
