Bio

Katy Lucey was named head coach of the Hudson Valley Community College softball program in 2025, taking the reins of a nationally ranked team with deep roots in the Capital Region. A proud Hudson Valley alumna, Lucey returns to lead the Vikings with over a decade of coaching experience across youth, travel, high school, and collegiate levels.

Prior to her appointment, Lucey served as Varsity Head Coach at Averill Park High School and as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Division I Siena College, bringing a wealth of experience in both player development and program leadership. She has also coached with well-respected travel programs, including the Classie Lassies, where she helped shape young athletes through skill development, mental preparation, and confidence-building.

Deeply connected to the local softball community, Lucey is known for her player-first approach and commitment to fostering strong, confident student-athletes both on and off the field. Her leadership style emphasizes competitive excellence, personal growth, and team culture.

Lucey holds an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services from Hudson Valley and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Empire State College. Her return to HVCC marks a new era for Vikings softball, as she looks to build on the program’s strong foundation and national reputation.
