Makai Gordon and Jeoffrey York Earn National USTFCCCA Honors Following Historic Vikings Outdoor Season
Hudson Valley Community College Track & Field continues to make history on the national stage as the Vikings earned two major postseason honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the 2026 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Utica, New York. Sophomore standout Makai Gordon was named the National Men's Field Athlete of the Year, while Head Coach Jeoffrey York earned National Men's Coach of the Year honors after leading the Vikings to a program-best national runner-up finish.
National Men's Field Athlete of the Year
Makai Gordon, Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC
Makai Gordon was named the National Men's Field Athlete of the Year for the 2026 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Gordon, who hails from Albany, New York, swept the high jump and long jump at the 2026 NJCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with marks of 2.03m (6-7¾) and 6.84m (22-5¼), respectively. His long jump victory was decided by a tiebreaker as Gordon delivered his two longest efforts of the season, while his high jump clearance improved his own division-leading mark outdoors.
National Men's Coach of the Year
Jeoffrey York, Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC
Jeoffrey York was named the National Men's Coach of the Year for the 2026 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. York, in his eighth year as head coach at Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC, led the Vikings to a program-best runner-up team finish at the 2026 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scoring 109 points across 17 of the 22 events. Hudson Valley also won the team title at the NJCAA Region 3 Championships with 232 points, winning 14 events.
With another record-breaking season in the books, Hudson Valley continues to establish itself among the premier programs in NJCAA Division III Track & Field. The Vikings' success throughout the 2026 campaign showcased the depth, talent, and continued growth of the program under Coach York, highlighted by regional dominance and historic performances on the national stage.
