Hudson Valley's men's soccer student-athlete Garrett Axtmann (Castleton/Maple Hill) was named the NJCAA Region III Male Athlete of the Week.

Axtmann leads the Vikings with eight points, all coming in the last two games last week as the Vikings have now won four straight games and have held opponents scoreless in the last 360-plus minutes. Axtmann recorded a hat trick in the Vikings 5-0 win over Adirondack and added another goal in the team's 4-0 win over Corning.

The men's soccer program has improved to 4-1 overall and has its toughest opponents coming up this week as they face-off against Mohawk Valley, Erie, No.5 Genesee and No.2 Herkimer.
