The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse team dropped a home contest to Howard Community College, 34-2, on March 20 at the OAC. The Vikings fall to 1-3 on the season following the loss.
Howard controlled the pace from the opening faceoff, jumping out to an early lead in the first quarter. Hudson Valley answered midway through the frame when Romeyn Murray found the back of the net on an unassisted goal, tying the game at 1-1. The Dragons responded with a strong offensive surge, closing the quarter on a 7-0 run to take an 8-1 lead.
In the second quarter, Howard continued its momentum, extending the lead with consistent scoring. The Vikings' lone goal of the period came from Josh Whitmore, who scored unassisted to make it 13-2. Despite defensive efforts, Hudson Valley entered halftime trailing 15-2.
The second half saw Howard add to its advantage, outscoring the Vikings 19-0 over the final two quarters. Hudson Valley goalkeepers combined for 21 saves on the night, facing heavy pressure from a high-volume Howard attack that totaled 88 shots.
Defensively, Jason Herrick led the Vikings with three caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Gabriel D'Angelo added three ground balls. At the faceoff X, Hudson Valley battled but was outmatched, winning 9 of 39 attempts.
Hudson Valley will look to bounce back as they return to action at home on Wednesday against Onondaga Community College at 6:00 p.m.
