Vikings Sit in Second After Day One of Region 3 Championship

The Hudson Valley Community College men's golf team opened play at the Region 3 Championship Tournament with a strong first-round performance, finishing day one in second place overall with a team score of 320.

The Vikings sit just seven strokes behind first-place SUNY Niagara, who leads the tournament with a score of 313 heading into the final round.

Freshman Will Jennings paced Hudson Valley with a team-low round of 76, putting himself in strong position individually entering day two. Nick Walsh followed with an 80, while Stephen Jordan carded an 81 to give the Vikings three golfers within five strokes of the 70s.

Tommy Wall added an 83 for Hudson Valley, and Logan Gilbo rounded out the scoring lineup with an 85 as the Vikings stayed firmly in contention for the regional title.

Hudson Valley will return to the course tomorrow for the final round of the Region 3 Championship Tournament as the Vikings look to close the gap.
