Men's Basketball Drops Senior Day Heartbreaker to SUNY Adirondack, 62-57

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team fell to SUNY Adirondack, 62-57, on Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought Senior Day contest at the McDonough Sports Complex.
Hudson Valley (9-17, 3-9) honored its sophomores prior to the 2:00 p.m. tip-off and came out with strong energy, taking a 28-26 lead into halftime. The Vikings controlled the tempo early, holding Adirondack to just 26 first-half points while building a narrow advantage at the break.
In the second half, SUNY Adirondack (17-10, 7-5) used a 36-point effort to regain control. The Timberwolves capitalized on second-chance opportunities and timely baskets down the stretch to secure the five-point victory.
Ian Fisher-Layton led the Vikings with 17 points and seven rebounds, knocking down two three-pointers. Fabian Wheatley added 16 points off the bench, while Julius Reed contributed 13 points and four assists. William Robinson pulled down seven rebounds and dished out three assists in the contest.
Hudson Valley finished with 40 total rebounds, including 13 offensive boards, but shot 29.2% from the field. Adirondack held a 47-40 advantage on the glass and converted 12 free throws to help seal the win.
The Vikings now await their playoff seeding as postseason brackets are finalized.
