The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team opened the spring semester with an impressive 88–70 road victory over SUNY Ulster on Thursday night. With the win, the Vikings improve to 5–8 on the season.
Hudson Valley set the tone early, jumping out to a commanding 45–28 lead at halftime behind an efficient offensive performance. The Vikings continued their strong play in the second half, outscoring Ulster 43–42 to secure the 18-point win.
Julius Reed led all scorers with a game-high 31 points, delivering a dominant performance from the field and at the free-throw line. Kemontae Thawe added 17 points, while Ian Fisher-Layton chipped in 14 points. The Vikings also received balanced contributions from their bench, with Marcus Steele scoring seven points and William Robinson and James Crable adding five points apiece.
Hudson Valley's offensive efficiency and consistent scoring across the lineup proved too much for Ulster, as the Vikings maintained control throughout the contest.
The Vikings will look to build on this momentum when they return to action on the road at Clinton Community College on Monday, January 12, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
