Football Dominates CT State Prep 55-0 on Senior Day
Hudson Valley Community College football capped off Senior Day in emphatic fashion with a 55-0 shutout victory over CT State Prep on Saturday afternoon at the HVCC Sports Complex.
The Vikings wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three times in the first quarter. Quarterback Nathan Stone opened the scoring with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Bell just two minutes into the game. Myquan Rush-Esdaile added a pair of short rushing touchdowns to give Hudson Valley a commanding 21-0 lead after one.
Stone continued to air it out in the second quarter, connecting with Damien Santiago for a 42-yard strike and Bell again on a 55-yard touchdown. He capped off his four-touchdown performance with a five-yard pass to Micah Gates. Just before halftime, Legend Kelly delivered the highlight of the day with a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown, sending the Vikings into the locker room up 49-0.
Nigere Stratton added a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to close out the scoring.
Hudson Valley's offense was explosive and efficient, totaling 366 yards on just 40 plays. Stone led the passing attack, finishing 11-for-13 for 233 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Rush-Esd and Stratton combined for three rushing scores, while Bell hauled in two touchdowns through the air.
The Vikings' defense was dominant wire-to-wire, holding CT State Prep to just 79 total yards while forcing two interceptions and allowing only one third-down conversion on 11 attempts.
The Vikings wrap up their home season with a dominant performance for the seniors. They head to Sussex on Saturday for a 1pm matchup.
