The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team continued its dominant start to the 2026 season on Tuesday, sweeping Fulton-Montgomery Community College at home to move to 14-0 overall.
In Game 1, Hudson Valley rode a monster day from Nico DeSanto to a 12-2 victory. DeSanto powered the offense with four hits and five RBIs, including a two-run home run in the first inning, a two-run single in the fourth, and a two-run double in the fifth. The Vikings answered an early Fulton-Montgomery homer quickly, as DeSanto's first-inning blast put Hudson Valley in front for good at 2-1.
The Vikings added two runs in the second and then broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Chase Morrison, DeSanto, Robert Melo, and Nick Commisso all contributed RBI hits in the rally as Hudson Valley piled up 14 hits in the win. Alexander Deitz earned the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits over five innings while striking out five.
Game 2 brought more offensive firepower as Hudson Valley completed the sweep with a 14-4 win. The Vikings jumped ahead in the first inning on RBI hits from Robert Melo, Red Maron, and Nick Commisso, then added insurance throughout the afternoon before sealing the game with a five-run sixth inning. Nicholas Mirabile highlighted the late surge with a two-run home run to right field, while Logan Norman and Maron added RBI hits to extend the lead.
Hudson Valley finished with 17 hits in Game 2 and showed its usual blend of balance and pressure on the bases, swiping nine stolen bases in the win. Norman and Maron each collected three hits, while Mirabile, Commisso, Maron, and Melo each drove in three runs. Eliezer Rosario picked up the win after striking out seven over 5.1 innings, allowing just three hits and four runs.
With the sweep, the Vikings improve to 14-0 and continue to build momentum heading into their next road trip.
Hudson Valley returns to action on Thursday, April 2, when the Vikings travel to SUNY Adirondack for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
