GAME ONE: HVCC 14 - CO-GREENE 1
Logan Norman collected three hits in three at bats, as the Vikings defeated Columbia Greene 14-1 on Tuesday at CGCC. Norman tripled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and doubled in the fourth inning.
The Vikings scored nine runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Nico DeSanto singled, scoring one run, Aidan Heffner drew a walk, scoring one run, Brendan Connolly drew a walk, scoring one run, Christian Aguilar drew a walk, scoring one run, Matthew Carrera drew a walk, scoring one run, Norman drew a walk, scoring one run, Jameson Balich singled, scoring two runs, and DeSanto singled, scoring one run.
The Vikings got on the board in the top of the first inning after Balich doubled down the right field line, and Balich scored after tagging up, each scoring one run. The Vikings extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Norman and DeSanto.
Connor Trudeau earned the win for the Vikings. The starter gave up one hit and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking four. Jake O'Connor and Daniel Paton each threw scoreless innings for the Vikings in relief.
The Vikings accumulated 12 hits in the game. DeSanto led the Vikings with four hits in four at bats. Balich, DeSanto, and Norman each drove in three runs for the Vikings. Connolly collected two hits for the Vikings in two at bats. The Vikings had patience at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game. Balich, Niko Sorice, and Heffner led the team with two bases on balls each. The Vikings ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 12 - CO-GREENE 4
Brendan Connolly collected three hits in four at bats, as the Vikings defeated Columbia Greene 12-4 in game 2. Connolly hit a solo home run to right field in the seventh inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
The Vikings got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jameson Balich singled, scoring one run, and Connolly doubled, scoring two runs. A single by Logan Norman extended the Vikings lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning. Connolly hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the seventh for the Vikings.
Jeremy Graham earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Jimmy Wilson tossed three innings of shutout ball for the Vikings in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out six and walking one.
The Vikings collected 14 hits in the game. Connolly, Balich, Niko Sorice, and Matthew Carrera each collected three hits for the Vikings. The Vikings had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Carson Jenkins-Antle and Jayden Kennedy led the team with two walks each. the Vikings turned one double play in the game.
The Vikings will travel to SUNY Adirondack for their next game on Saturday 4/19 at 12pm and 2pm.
